Water Crisis in Thailand’s Koh Samui Is Worsening Everyday

A popular tourist destination off the coast of Thailand, Koh Samui is facing a severe water crisis at the moment.

Authorities are working tirelessly to prevent this tourist hotspot from turning into a disaster zone.

As per reports only 30 days worth of water is left on this place which has led to a reduction in the number of tourists.

Water reserves such as Phru Na Mueang, Phuru Kraud, and Hin Lad Waterfall have seen a significant dip in their water levels.

With increasing number of tourists and no rainfalls, water conservation has become extremely difficult. Due to the on-going water crisis, Deputy Mayor Sutham Samthong has urged the locals to use the water carefully.

Koh Samui is a popular tourist spot and as per stats, it attracts 2.7 million tourists every year. The island is famous for many trekking trails, sandy beaches and jungle safaris but has seen a decline in visitors due to the on-going crisis.
