Russia Visa Free Travel For Indians: 2025 Visa Updates, And Costs

Visa free travel to Russia for Indian travellers is set to become a reality. “It is predicted that thanks to the agreement, which is now under development, the number of travellers from India coming to the Russian capital will increase”,  stated Evgeny Kozlov, chairman of the Moscow City Tourism Committee.

What Is Visa-Free Travel?

When you travel visa-free, you don’t need to apply for permission before your trip. You just show your passport when you arrive. Currently, Indians visa free travel to Russia will join the list of 62 countries to enjoy visa-free access.

Indian Tourism In Moscow Growing Fast

With the new Russia Visa free travel for Indian tourists program launching next year, Moscow expects to see a significant increase in visitors. 

More and more Indians are choosing to visit Moscow:

• 28,500 Indians visited Moscow in early 2024, a 50% jump from last year
• In 2023, about 60,000 Indians visited Moscow,  26% more than in 2022
• India is now one of the top non-CIS countries sending visitors to Moscow

Most Indians go to Moscow for business and work. In fact, India ranked third among non-CIS countries for business travellers in early 2024. Tourism officials are preparing for this growth, as Russia Visa free travel for Indian tourists will make the country more accessible than ever.

E-Visa Makes Travel Easier

Since August 2023, Indians can apply for Russian visas online:

• It takes about 4 days to get approved
• Last year, 9,500 Indians got e-visas (6% of all e-visas issued)
• In January alone, 1,700 Indians received e-visas

Russia already lets tourist groups from China and Iran enter without visas (since August 2023). The program has worked well, and Russia wants to offer the same to Indian visitors.
