Day 1: Manali to Chika (10 km drive, 3-4 km trek)

The trek starts at Manali which is one of the largest towns of Himachal Pradesh. About 29 km away from Manali there is Jobra which serves as the beginning of the trek. The trek to Chika is a gradual climb with a tentative gradient through dense green woods and beautiful green pastures. Chika is the first campsite which provides magnificent views of other mountains around.
Day 2: Chika to Balu ka Gera (8 km, 5-6 hours)
The trek from Chika to Balu ka Gera is through many streams and then beautiful fully grown meadows. It continues through gradual slopes and provides exquisite views of the sapphire Dhauladhar range. The second campsite is known as Balu ka Gera, which is a huge flat land with mountains around, an excellent place for stargazing.
Day 3: Balu ka Gera to Hampta Pass to Siagoru (14 km, 8-9 hours)
This is the most populated and quite physically demanding day of the entire trek. This hike entails hiking from one peak to another, crossing through the Hampta Pass with an elevation of 4270m (14,009ft). After the pass, you get the top view of the Lahaul and Spiti valleys to watch. The trek down to Siagoru through Hampta Pass is equally challenging as there are rocks along with snow fields.
Day 4: Siagoru to Chatru to Chandratal Lake (6 km trek, 45 km drive)

From Siagoru to Chatru the trek is comparatively less difficult and it is also a downhill trek through the Spiti valley. From Chatru one has to drive to reach the charming Chandratal Lake. The view of the clear water of the lake surrounded by mountain ranges is one of the most cherished experiences in a lifetime. Spend a night in a tent or under the stars near the lake, in the calm of the night and the loveliness of the surrounding landscape.
Day 5: Chandratal Lake to Manali (70 km drive)

  • By Train: The nearest railway station is Joginder Nagar which is also well linked with most of the metro cities of India. If you are in Joginder Nagar, then you can easily get a taxi or bus service to travel up to Manali.
  • By Road: Manali is well connected by road it has road connectivity with cities like Delhi, Chandigarh & Shimla etc. The bus services can be availed or else one can hire a taxi to travel to Manali.
