Listen, Thimphu isn't your typical capital city - it's tiny but absolutely bursting with character! We spent three days there last year and still didn't see everything.
Climb up to that giant Buddha statue first thing - trust us, you'll be out of breath, but the views are INSANE! The Memorial Chorten was surprisingly moving too. We watched elderly locals circling it with prayer beads while teenagers hung out nearby on their phones - such a cool mix of old and new.
What things to do in Thimphu that we loved? Stuffing our faces with momos (dumplings), getting lost in the maze-like Weekend Market, and trying our hand at archery (we were terrible!).
Places to visit in Thimphu that you shouldn't skip include that massive
fortress thing (Tashichho Dzong) where all the monks hang out. The folk museum was way more interesting than it sounds!
