Bhutan is one of the most popular biking destinations in the world. Mountain roads, endless curves, changing landscapes, and views that stop you mid-ride. But a great bike trip takes more than just showing up with a motorcycle. Routes need planning, permits need arranging, stays need booking, and someone needs to know which roads are actually worth riding. That is where Bhutan bike trip packages come in. We handle the planning so you can focus on the ride.

Starting from ₹54,999, our 8-day Bhutan Bike Trip Expedition covers Phuentsholing, Thimphu, Punakha, Phobjikha Valley, and Paro. Himalayan riding, monastery stops, scenic viewpoints, and local experiences are built into one single itinerary.

A Bhutan bike trip from India is a different experience when you have a planned route, a trip captain who knows the roads, accommodation sorted ahead, and fuel and on-road support when you need them. An India to Bhutan bike trip is not just about the destinations. It is about what happens on the road between them.

Explore and book your Bhutan tour packages for bike trips with WanderOn and see the Himalayan kingdom the way it deserves to be seen.

Memories Our Travellers Brought Back from Bhutan

Tirtha Narkar on her WanderOn Bhutan trip package experience: This was our first travel experience with WanderOn. To start with - me, my husband (Aniket) and our friends had decided to do a tour with you guys (the place was not decided then). We had bought early bird vouchers. Our first preference was to go for Leh to Leh bike ride but unfortunately the plan didn't get executed. Bhutan (6N/7D) was finalized as we were quite excited to get a stamp on our passports. Dinesh Reddy on his WanderOn Bhutan Trip: My Bhutan trip with Trip Captain Arka was truly one of the most memorable journeys I’ve ever had. From the very beginning, everything was well-organized, smooth, and thoughtfully planned, which made the experience completely stress-free and enjoyable.  Read His Full WanderOn Review here.

Average Cost for a Bhutan Bike Trip

A Bhutan bike trip costs ₹40,000 to ₹80,000 per person for Indian travellers on a 7 to 10-day ride. Not cheap, but not unreasonable either for a country that controls exactly how many people come in. What you spend depends on your route, bike model, stays, and package inclusions.

What Are You Actually Paying For?

  • Bike rental: ₹1,000 to ₹2,500 per day, depending on the model
  • Fuel: ₹3,000 to ₹6,000 for the complete route
  • Accommodation: ₹1,500 to ₹4,000 per night
  • Food: ₹500 to ₹1,000 per day
  • Permits, transfers, and sightseeing: Varies by package and route

Bhutan is not the place to wing it. Roads close without warning, permits have strict rules, and mechanical help is hard to find on mountain stretches. Most riders book a package for good reason.

Is a Bhutan Bike Trip Package Worth It?

Yes, for most people. A well-organised Bhutan bike trip package includes stays, permits, support vehicle, mechanic assistance, meals (depending on the package), and sightseeing. One number, no mid-trip scrambling.

Premium rides with better bikes, longer routes, and upgraded stays will push past ₹80,000. Budget tight, plan smart, and the ₹40,000 to ₹80,000 window holds up for a solid 7 to 10-day ride.

Documents You Need For A Bhutan Bike Tour

Document checks are a serious part of any India to Bhutan bike trip. Get everything sorted before you reach the border. Permit and entry formalities happen at the crossing, and missing paperwork means delays or being turned back.

Rider Credentials

Carry your original driving licence with a valid motorcycle category endorsement. Physical licence, not a digital copy. Especially important on a Bhutan bike trip, where you are riding through remote mountain areas with limited connectivity.

If you are on your own motorcycle, make sure the licence details match the vehicle documents exactly.

Bhutan Entry Permit

Indian travellers need one of the following to enter Bhutan:

  • Passport with validity
  • Voter ID card

The Bhutan bike trip permit is mandatory for entering the country and riding through permitted areas. Your operator handles the process, but carry copies of everything. Border verification happens more than once.

Vehicle Documents

Riders on their own motorcycle need to carry:

  • Registration Certificate (RC)
  • Valid bike insurance
  • Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate
  • Driving licence
  • NOC from the owner if the bike is not yours

For rental bikes included in Bhutan Bike Trip Packages, the operator takes care of the vehicle paperwork.

Personal ID & Health Documents

Keep these on you throughout the ride:

  • Physical government photo ID
  • Passport-size photographs
  • Travel insurance details
  • Emergency contact information
  • Blood group and important medical details

Quick Tip

Waterproof pouch, inside your riding jacket or tank bag. Border checks and permit verification can happen mid-ride. Physical copies and a digital backup, both.

Planning Your Bhutan Bike Trip Guide

Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are the best time for bhutan bike trip. Roads are more stable, visibility is better, and the weather stays predictable. The Bhutan bike trip best time shifts depending on what you are after. Clear mountain views in spring, greener landscapes after the rains in autumn.

A reliable Bhutan bike trip guide helps you plan realistic daily riding hours and prepares you for terrain that changes faster than expected. The India to Bhutan bike trip is not about covering distance. Pace yourself, and the climbs, curves, and valley crossings take care of the rest.

What Every Rider Should Pack For Bhutan: WanderOn Checklist

A Bhutan bike trip from India runs through changing terrain, high-altitude passes, and stretches where you will not find a shop for hours. Pack smart before you leave. Once you are on the road, there is no fixing a bad packing list.

Clothing For Different Temperatures

  • Thermal innerwear for colder sections
  • Warm fleece jacket or sweatshirt
  • Comfortable riding clothes
  • Extra socks and undergarments
  • Lightweight clothes for lower-altitude areas
  • Waterproof jacket and pants

A valley can feel warm while the pass above it is freezing. Pack for both.

Personal Essentials

  • Sunscreen and sunglasses
  • Lip balm and moisturiser
  • Personal medicines
  • Basic first-aid supplies
  • Toiletries
  • Reusable water bottle
  • Small backpack for daily essentials

Bike And Travel Essentials

  • Phone charger and power bank
  • Universal adapter
  • Bike documents and travel documents
  • Waterproof document pouch
  • Small torch
  • Multi-tool or basic bike repair kit (Optional)
  • Zip-lock bags for protecting electronics

Health And Safety Items

Headaches, motion sickness, cold, and stomach issues. Carry medicine for all of it. Add bandages, antiseptics, and emergency contacts. Remote stretches have no pharmacies nearby.

Quick Packing Tip: Keep it light. Heavy luggage on winding mountain roads gets uncomfortable fast. Gloves, rain gear, documents, and medicines should always be within reach, not buried at the bottom of a bag. That is the Bhutan bike trip guide rule that most riders learn the hard way.

My trip to Bhutan with WanderOn was an unforgettable adventure, packed with everything from stunning mountain landscapes to a literal 5.8 magnitude earthquake in Thimphu!. A huge shoutout to our trip captain ABHIJAY👏, who was incredibly proactive, present, and helpful the entire time. He stayed right with the group during the tough stretches of the trek, ensuring everyone made it back safely down the mountain. His supportive attitude made a massive difference."

This was my third trip with WanderOn, this time to Bhutan in June 2026, and I can confidently say I’ve seen a remarkable upgrade since my first trip with them in December 2023. The two biggest reasons I keep choosing WanderOn are women’s safety and their seamless trip coordination. They’ve built such trust that even my parents now ask, “Why aren’t you booking with WanderOn instead of other vendors?” That’s the kind of confidence and impact they’ve created over the years. Yes, they may be slightly premium compared to others, but the experience makes it worth every penny. One thing they never compromise on is the quality of stays. All our accommodations in Bhutan were comfortable, beautiful, and well chosen. The food included in the package was decent, the local guides were amazing, and the itinerary was thoughtfully planned. There was a minor delay on Day 1 due to flight delays, and the team tried their best to accommodate everyone, which eventually led to a delayed border crossing from Jaigaon to Phuentsholing. However, these things can happen while managing a large group, and it was handled professionally. A special mention to our Trip Captain, Abhijay (Avi). Calm, composed, energetic, professional, and incredibly humble—he truly made the trip memorable. It was my birthday during the trip, and I hadn’t mentioned it because I usually don’t celebrate birthdays. But Avi and my fellow travellers changed that for me and made the day feel special. Thank you for that memory. The only disappointment of the trip was the last night’s stay and the vehicle arranged for our drop back to Siliguri. The journey felt quite congested and suffocating, and honestly, it didn’t do justice to the price paid or to the otherwise excellent experience. Overall, this was another wonderful journey with WanderOn, and despite a few shortcomings at the end, I returned with beautiful memories, new friendships, and yet another reason to travel with them again.
