Batumi sits on Georgia’s Black Sea coast, where long pebble beaches, a lively waterfront, and a distinctly modern skyline meet the quieter streets of the old town. WanderOn’s Batumi tour packages make it easy to experience both sides of the city, from walks along the seven-kilometre Boulevard and the beaches to the Batumi Botanical Garden and day trips into the surrounding region. You can spend the day by the sea, wander through the city in the evening, and still have the mountains and countryside within reach.
Batumi is the other half of what Georgia does well. Tbilisi is history and hills, Batumi is sea and summer, and most visitors who come for one want both. The city works from late spring through early autumn as a beach destination and stays busy the rest of the year on the strength of its casinos, restaurants, and the fact that it never fully switches off.
For anyone building a full Georgia trip, our Georgia tour packages fold Tbilisi and Batumi into one route across the country. Most of our travellers do exactly that, because six hours west of the capital gets you a completely different Georgia, and it would be a waste to see only one. A Batumi group tour package usually runs the coast as part of a wider Georgia circuit, pairing the city with Tbilisi and often Kakheti or Kazbegi so you see the country rather than just one town. These trips sit inside WanderOn's fixed group departures, where a trip captain travels with the group and handles the on-ground running from the moment you land.
Not every group wants to run on a fixed schedule. If your dates, group size, or pace doesn't line up with our group calendar, we build a customized Batumi package on the same on-ground network, the same hotels, drivers, and operators, shaped entirely around your window.
Customized Batumi packages run without a trip captain on the ground. If having one matters to your group, take a fixed group departure instead.

Batumi rewards the people who slow down for it. The beach is the headline, but the best things to do in Batumi are spread between the seafront, the ridge above town, and the hills a short drive inland. Most of the best things to do in Georgia specifically in Batumi, are part of our Batumi tour packages. The boulevard runs roughly seven kilometres along the seafront, and walking or cycling the full length is the first thing to do in the city, ideally in the last hour before sunset when the light comes off the water and the towers behind you start to light up. Cafes, fountains, and sculptures line the whole stretch, and it is the one part of Batumi everyone remembers.
2. Watch Ali and Nino move
The eight-metre steel statue of Ali and Nino stands on the boulevard and slowly rotates through each other and apart again, a full cycle every few minutes in the evenings. It sounds like a small thing on paper. In person, with the sea behind it, people stand and watch the whole loop.
Batumi's beaches are pebble rather than sand, which throws some first-timers, but the water is clean and warm from June into September and the pace is exactly what a coast should be. Beach clubs run the length of the shore for anyone who wants loungers and a bar, and the public stretches are free and quieter.
Nine kilometres north of the city, the botanical garden sits on a headland above the sea with plant collections from across the world laid out on paths that climb the cliff. It is one of the largest gardens of its kind in the region, and the views back down to the coast are the reason to give it a full morning rather than a quick stop.
The cable car climbs the ridge behind the city to a viewpoint that gives you the whole of Batumi at once, the towers, the port, the coastline curving south toward Turkey. There is a cafe and a small wine tasting at the top, and it is worth timing for late afternoon.
Batumi is the entertainment capital of this side of Georgia, with the casinos, bars, and restaurants that keep the city awake long after the beaches empty. Whether or not the tables are your thing, the seafront after dark is a different place from the seafront at noon, and it is part of what the city is.
