A Georgia visa for Indians is required before travel in most cases; Georgia doesn’t offer Indian passport holders a blanket visa-free entry the way some countries do. For most Indian travellers, this means an eVisa, applied for entirely online. The one exception is if you already hold a valid US, UK, Schengen, or a handful of other visas; in that case, Georgia waives its own visa requirement.

The eVisa itself is easy on paper: a $20 government fee, an online form, and processing in about a week. But two 2026 changes have made the process stricter than before, a mandatory identity verification step called DuVerify, and a compulsory travel insurance requirement. Missing either can get your application rejected or your entry denied at the border.

Do Indians Need a Visa for Georgia?

Yes, in most cases. Georgia is not on the list of countries Indian passport holders can enter visa-free by default, so a Georgia tourist visa for Indians is required before travel.

The One Exception: Visa-Free Through a Third-Country Visa

Indian citizens who already hold a valid, not expired visa or residence permit from certain countries can skip the Georgian visa entirely.

This route allows a stay of up to 90 days within a 180-day period. The qualifying visa has to be valid at the time of entry into Georgia, not just at the time it was issued,  an expired US or Schengen visa won’t work, even if your Georgia trip is otherwise straightforward.

Keep these ready before you start the online application for Georgia visa:

• Indian passport valid for at least 6 months from your entry date, with at least 2 blank pages, issued within the last 10 years
• A recent passport-size photograph with a white background, in digital form
• Confirmed return or onward flight tickets
• Hotel booking or proof of accommodation for your stay
• Proof of sufficient funds
• Valid travel and health insurance covering your full stay, with minimum coverage of 30,000 GEL

Documents should be clear scans rather than phone photos,  blurry uploads are one of the more common, avoidable reasons applications get flagged for review.

Georgia Travel Insurance Requirement (2026)

Mandatory travel insurance: Minimum 30,000 GEL (roughly USD 11,000) of coverage, required since 1 January 2026.

Every tourist entering Georgia must now carry valid health and accident insurance, regardless of visa type. The rule applies equally to eVisa holders and to travellers using the visa-free route on a third-country visa.

• Valid for the entire stay, including arrival and departure dates
• Border officers can ask for a physical or digital copy at passport control

Travelling without it can mean denied entry even with an approved eVisa, so treat the policy as part of the visa file rather than an afterthought.

Common Reasons Georgia eVisa Applications Get Rejected

Georgia approves most Indian tourist applications. The refusals that do happen usually result from one of these.

• Weak bank statements: A low running balance, a large deposit made just before applying, or a salary account with no visible salary credits.
• Missed DuVerify deadline: The identity check must be completed within 24 hours of applying. Miss it and the application closes with no refund.
• Insufficient insurance: Cover below 30,000 GEL, or a policy that expires before your return date.
• Passport validity: Fewer than six months of validity from your date of entry, or fewer than two blank pages.
• Mismatched dates: Flight bookings, hotel bookings and the declared length of stay must agree, and the stay must sit within 30 days.
• Poor-quality scans: Cropped passport pages, glare across the MRZ line, or a photo against a patterned background.
• Unofficial websites: Look-alike portals file with errors you never see, sometimes under the wrong visa category. Apply only on evisa.gov.ge.

If your application is refused, the decision email states the ground for refusal. Address that specific issue, whether it is a fresh bank statement or a corrected insurance policy, and submit a new application straight away, since Georgia does not impose a waiting period between attempts. The fee is charged again on reapplication.

Georgia eVisa for Indians: Step-by-Step Guide

The Georgia eVisa is the standard route for Indian travellers who don’t qualify for visa-free entry. It’s a fully online application through the official portal, evisa.gov.ge, with no embassy visit required.

How to Apply for Georgia Visa

1. Create an account on the official Georgia eVisa portal at evisa.gov.ge.
2. Fill out the application form with your passport and travel details.
3. Upload the required documents, including the 30,000 GEL insurance policy (see checklist below).
4. Pay the consular fee of USD 20 plus a 2 percent service charge.
5. Complete DuVerify identity verification within 24 hours of payment. The USD 15 DuVerify fee is charged at this stage.
6. Wait for processing. The Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs quotes a minimum of five working days, and applications routinely take seven or more during Indian holiday peaks around May–June, Diwali and Christmas–New Year. Apply at least three weeks before departure, and four to six weeks out if you are travelling in a peak window, so a document correction does not push you past your flight date.
7. Receive the approved eVisa by email as a PDF. Print one copy and keep a digital copy on your phone for passport control.

The DuVerify Step for Georgia Visa

DuVerify is a 2026 addition to the process, and it’s where a lot of applications stall. After you submit your form and pay the consular fee, you’ll get a verification link by email that must be completed within 24 hours, along with a $15 fee. 

Missing this window cancels the application, and you’ll need to start the whole process again so it’s worth checking your inbox (and spam folder) closely once you’ve paid.

Stay Duration and Validity for Georgia Visa for Indians

The eVisa allows a stay of up to 30 days per entry, and the visa itself stays valid for 120 days from the date it’s issued. That gap matters, you don’t have to travel immediately, but once you enter Georgia, your 30-day clock starts, and if it’s a multiple-entry visa, you can re-enter and use any remaining days within that 120-day window.

Georgia eVisa Fees for Indians (2026)

The Georgia eVisa costs Indian travellers around USD 35 in total, or roughly INR 3,000, once all charges are added up.

• Consular fee: USD 20, The Georgian government's charge for the visa itself, the same for single or multiple entry.
• DuVerify fee: USD 15, A separate charge for the mandatory identity check that follows your application.
• Service charge: 2 percent, Applied to the portal payment, which works out to under a dollar.
• Travel insurance: Paid separately, a policy with at least 30,000 GEL of cover is a required document since 1 January 2026.
• Visa-free route: No fee, travellers holding a valid US, UK, Schengen, Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea or GCC visa or residence permit enter without an eVisa.

Note: None of these fees are refunded if the application is refused, so it pays to get the documents right the first time.

Georgia Visa Processing Time

Standard processing for the eVisa runs 5 to 7 working days. During peak travel season (typically June to August), it’s worth applying at least 2 to 3 weeks ahead of your travel dates to account for possible delays or requests for additional documents.
