1. Gudauri Ski Resort and the Upper Mountain

The upper lifts push above 2,700 meters to terrain most day visitors never reach, with views across the Greater Caucasus stretching as far as Kazbegi on a clear January morning. Non-skiers can ride the chairlift to the top purely for the view before coming back down.

2. Ananuri Fortress

An hour below Gudauri on the Military Highway, Ananuri sits on the Zhinvali reservoir with two towers, a church, and a wall running down to the water.
