Best-selling Munich tour packages

Munich tour packages bring travellers into the beating heart of Bavaria where Marienplatz frames the medieval Old Town, the Glockenspiel chimes from the New Town Hall tower, and the world's largest beer festival takes over Theresienwiese every autumn. WanderOn's Munich departures build on this location advantage, positioning the city as either the Oktoberfest anchor or the Bavarian finale on a wider Central European circuit.
Over the past 2 years, WanderOn has been running Europe group trips for Indian travellers, taking more than 2,000 travellers across the continent on these routes. Our Europe tour packages pair Munich with Prague, Budapest, Vienna, Salzburg and Hallstatt on one Schengen visa, giving travellers meaningful time across multiple cities rather than a single-city stay. Hotels, guided experiences, intercity trains, festival entry and included meals are set inside the package price, which makes it easier to compare the Munich trip cost across durations and departures.
A 4.9/5 Google rating from our group departures speaks for the ground experience, from the Danube cruises in Budapest to the beer tent afternoons at Oktoberfest. Browse our current Munich tour packages from India below and pick the departure that fits your calendar.

What your Munich trip covers

Embedded media
Every WanderOn Munich departure builds the Bavaria leg around specific experiences rather than a generic city pass. Here is what is genuinely delivered on the ground.

1. Marienplatz and the Munich Old Town

Marienplatz sits at the geographic and cultural centre of Munich, framed by the Neues Rathaus (New Town Hall) with its 85-metre tower and the ornate Glockenspiel that performs its figurine show.. A visit to Marienplatz is included on select WanderOn Munich packages, giving travellers time to stand in the square as the Glockenspiel plays, walk past the Frauenkirche twin towers, and see the Viktualienmarkt open-air food market just off the main square.

2. Oktoberfest at Theresienwiese

Oktoberfest is the standout inclusion on select WanderOn Munich departures, and it is genuinely the reason many Indian travellers book this trip. The Munich Oktoberfest tour package includes festival entry, a guaranteed reserved seat inside one of the beer tents at Theresienwiese, an authentic Bavarian meal (typically roast chicken, pretzels or Bavarian sausage), and beer vouchers to redeem at your tent. The festival runs from mid-September into the first weekend of October each year.

3. Neuschwanstein Castle day trip from Munich

The Neuschwanstein Castle day trip from Munich is one of Bavaria's most-booked excursions, running roughly 2 hours south of Munich to the fairytale Hohenschwangau valley where King Ludwig II built his 19th-century turreted castle. This day trip is not currently included in WanderOn's Munich departures. Travellers who want to add Neuschwanstein typically book a full-day tour independently from Munich Hauptbahnhof.

4. Nymphenburg Palace and the English Garden

Nymphenburg Palace was the summer residence of Bavarian royalty and sits about 6 km northwest of the city centre, surrounded by 490 acres of baroque gardens. The English Garden is one of the largest urban parks in Europe, larger than New York's Central Park, with beer gardens, a Chinese pagoda, and the famous Eisbach standing wave where local surfers ride the river current in the middle of the city. Both sit outside WanderOn's current Munich itineraries but work well as free-time exploration for travellers with extra hours around Marienplatz.

Munich, Austria and Prague: the Central Europe circuit

Embedded media
The Munich Austria tour package combination is what most Indian travellers looking at Bavaria are actually after, because Munich sits at the natural western end of a Central European route that pulls in Vienna, Salzburg, Hallstatt, Prague and Budapest on one Schengen visa. The rail connections are quick, which is why circuit trips outperform single-city stays on this stretch of Europe.
WanderOn's two Munich-inclusive routes take different approaches to the circuit. The 11-day Oktoberfest tour starts in Prague, moves through Budapest and Salzburg with a Hallstatt day trip, and lands in Munich for the festival experience at the end. The 8-day Central Europe circuit reverses the geography, opening in Vienna, running through Budapest, Bratislava, Prague, Flachau and the Dachstein Glacier before finishing with a scenic drive into Munich.
If Prague is the anchor you are building around, our Prague tour packages show the wider set of departures that treat Prague as the primary destination.

Best time to visit Munich

Embedded media
Munich runs a distinctive four-season calendar shaped by Bavarian festivals, alpine access and clear seasonal shifts. The best time to visit Munich depends on whether you are chasing Oktoberfest, the Christmas markets, summer beer gardens or the shoulder-season quiet.
SeasonMonthsAvg TemperatureWhat's happeningBest for
SpringMar–May5°C to 18°CCity reawakens, gardens bloom, beer gardens openSightseeing, easier availability, shoulder pricing
SummerJun–Aug15°C to 25°CBeer garden peak, long daylight, alpine day tripsSummer in Europe circuits, alpine excursions
AutumnSep–Oct8°C to 18°COktoberfest late Sep to early Oct, harvest seasonOktoberfest packages, festival travel, golden weather
WinterNov–Feb-3°C to 5°CChristmas markets from late Nov, snow, ski accessChristmas market trips, quiet culture travel, alpine ski add-ons
The most-booked window is the last two weeks of September running into early October when Oktoberfest is live, and this is the only period when accommodation and festival tent bookings need to lock in months ahead.

Visa & documents for Munich

Any Munich tour package from India needs a valid Schengen visa applied for and issued before departure. Germany is a full Schengen member, and the visa covers travel to every Schengen country on the same itinerary, valid for stays of up to 90 days within a rolling 180-day window. Applications go through VFS Global centres in India and require a passport with at least two blank pages and six months of remaining validity, confirmed hotel bookings and itinerary, financial proof through recent bank statements and income tax returns, and travel medical cover of at least €30,000 for emergencies, hospitalisation and repatriation.
Full application checklists and appointment guidance sit in our Europe visa for Indians resource. Before you travel, also review the EES entry rules for Europe coverage and the travel insurance for Europe explainer so no surprises come up at the airport.
EES update: as of 10 April 2026, the biometric Entry/Exit System is running at all Schengen external borders. This system replaces the manual passport stamping that used to happen at immigration and captures biometric data (fingerprints and facial images) for short-stay non-EU visitors. Your Schengen visa is still the mandatory clearance to travel — EES is the border record process that runs alongside it.
