How to reach Spiti Valley from Mumbai

By Air

  • Mumbai has daily direct flights to Delhi. Flight duration is approximately 2 hours
  • All major airlines, including IndiGo, Air India, SpiceJet, and Vistara operate this route with multiple daily departures
  • Mumbai sits at sea level. Delhi is at 216 metres. Kaza, Spiti's main town, sits at 3,800 metres. The altitude gain across a Mumbai to Spiti journey is the steepest of any Himalayan destination in India
  • Delhi to Kaza via Shimla-Kinnaur highway is approximately 700 km. Drive time is 14 to 16 hours
  • Delhi to Kaza via Manali is approximately 630 km. This route crosses two high-altitude passes and opens only from late June.

  • Delhi to Kaza by road takes 14 to 16 hours via Shimla-Kinnaur highway after the train arrives
  • The train route suits travelers with a longer trip window of 10 to 12 days who prefer surface travel from Mumbai. 

By Road

  • Road distance from Mumbai to Kaza via Delhi is approximately 2,200 km. 
  • Two road routes connect Delhi to Spiti Valley
