How to Reach Spiti Valley from Bangalore?

By Air - Bangalore to Delhi

The fastest way to begin a Spiti Valley tour from Bangalore is by flying into Delhi. Kempegowda International Airport in Bangalore has multiple daily flights to Indira Gandhi International Airport, with a flight time of approximately 2.5 to 3 hours.

From Delhi, the road journey into the valley begins. There is no airport in Spiti Valley. The nearest functional airport to Kaza is Bhuntar in Kullu, approximately 245 kilometres away, but road access from Bhuntar into Spiti is limited and unreliable. Delhi remains the most practical and commonly used entry point for Spiti Valley holiday packages from Bangalore.

Road Routes from Delhi into Spiti Valley

Two road routes connect Delhi to Kaza, the district headquarters of Spiti.

Shimla-Kinnaur Route: Delhi to Kaza via Shimla covers approximately 570 kilometres. The road passes through Chandigarh, Shimla, Narkanda, Rampur, and the Kinnaur Valley before entering Spiti. This route takes two days and is the more stable of the two options, with a gradual gain in altitude.

Manali Route: Delhi to Kaza via Manali covers approximately 750 kilometres. The road crosses Rohtang Pass at 3,978 metres and Kunzum Pass at 4,590 metres. This route takes two days and is only accessible after mid-June when both passes open. It involves a sharper altitude gain and more demanding road conditions.

Most of WanderOn’s Spiti Valley trip packages from Bangalore complete the journey one way via Shimla and return via Manali, covering the full circuit of the valley.

By Train

Travelers can take a train from Bangalore to Delhi before connecting by road to Spiti. The Rajdhani Express covers the Bangalore to Delhi route in approximately 33 to 34 hours. From Delhi, the road journey into the valley follows the same Shimla or Manali route. This option suits travelers who prefer surface travel and want to avoid flying, though total travel time to Kaza from Bangalore increases to three days.

WanderOn's Joining Point for Spiti Valley Tour Packages from Bangalore

All WanderOn Spiti Valley tour packages from Bangalore are structured with Delhi as the fixed group joining point. Travelers fly or train into Delhi independently and meet the group on Day 1 of the itinerary. From Delhi, a certified trip captain manages all ground logistics—vehicle, road halts, permits, and accommodation—for the full duration of the trip.

Fixed group departures run throughout the travel season from May to October. WanderOn's Spiti Valley trip packages from Bangalore are designed so that a traveler from Bangalore boards a flight, lands in Delhi, and hands over all further planning to the team.

Why Travellers Booked Their Spiti Valley Trip with WanderOn and Why You Should Too

Booking a Spiti Valley tour package from Bangalore means committing to a high-altitude destination that demands more from an operator than a standard hill station trip. The altitude, the road conditions, the limited connectivity, and the short travel window leave no room for poor planning. Here is what WanderOn brings to every departure.

  • 9 Years of Operating Spiti Valley Group Tours
  • WanderOn has run Spiti Valley departures for over 9 years across both the Shimla-Kinnaur and Manali-Kunzum routes. That operational history shapes road halt decisions, acclimatisation scheduling, and emergency protocols for every batch.
  • Fixed Departures
  • Departure dates are fixed and not subject to minimum group size conditions. Travellers from Bangalore can book flights, plan leave, and prepare with confidence the batch will run as scheduled.
  • WanderOn Record ride

WanderOn Spiti Record ride is featured in the India Book of Records for going to Chicham Bridge, Asia's highest motorable bridge at approximately 4,500 metres with the biggest biker group. This is a WanderOn achievement, not just a landmark visit. Chicham Bridge is a standard stop on every WanderOn Spiti Valley batch.

  • Certified Trip Captain on Every Batch

Every departure is led by a Trip Captain trained for high-altitude group management. On Spiti routes, the Trip Captain handles altitude monitoring, road halt scheduling, permit checks, and emergency response throughout the trip.

  • Oxygen Support and Medical Kit as Standard

Every WanderOn Spiti departure carries portable oxygen cylinders and a full medical kit. These are standard equipment on all Himalayan batches, not optional add-ons.

  • Solo Traveller Friendly

WanderOn's Spiti valley group tour packages are also designed for solo bookings. A traveller from Bangalore booking alone joins a confirmed batch with a Trip Captain assigned. No solo premium, no requirement to form a group before booking!

  • 4.9 Out of 5 on Google and TripAdvisor

WanderOn holds a 4.9 out of 5 rating across Google and TripAdvisor. These are public platform ratings from verified travellers and can be checked independently before booking.

  • 24/7 Support Across a Low-Connectivity Region
  • Most of Spiti runs on the BSNL network only. WanderOn provides 24/7 operations support for the full duration of every departure — a direct contact line to the team regardless of where the group is in the valley.

Tried & Tested Things to Know Before Booking Spiti tour package from Bangalore

Bangalore to Kaza Is a 2,900-Metre Altitude Jump

Bangalore is at 920 metres above sea level. Kaza is at 3,800 metres. That is a gain of nearly 2,900 metres within two days of road travel from Delhi. The body's response — headache, fatigue, reduced appetite, and disturbed sleep—is involuntary regardless of fitness level.

Your Telecom SIM Will Not Work in the Valley

Jio, Airtel, and Vi have no network coverage across most of Spiti. BSNL is the only provider with any signal, and even that is inconsistent. Get a BSNL SIM activated in Delhi before the road journey begins. Inform family and contacts that communication blackouts of two to three days are normal.

Withdraw Cash Before Entering Spiti

The ATM in Kaza is the only cash machine in the valley and frequently runs out during peak season. UPI and card payments are not reliable. Carry sufficient cash from Delhi or Chandigarh before the road journey into Spiti begins.

Acclimatisation Days Are Structured for Rest, Not Free Time

WanderOn's itinerary includes dedicated acclimatisation days at key altitude points. Physical exertion on these days—including walks longer than one to two kilometres — increases the risk of Acute Mountain Sickness. These are not optional rest days. Follow the Trip Captain's guidance without exception.

Sunscreen Is Mandatory Despite the Cold

UV radiation increases by approximately 10 to 12 percent per 1,000 metres of altitude. At Kaza's 3,800 metres, UV exposure is significantly higher than at Bangalore's 920 metres. Travellers who pack only warm clothing and skip sunscreen risk severe sunburn across long clear days in July and August. A minimum SPF of 50 is required.

Night Temperature Drops Below 5 Degrees Even in June

Daytime temperatures in Kaza in June sit between 15 and 22 degrees Celsius. Nights in the same month drop to 3 to 5 degrees Celsius. By September, nights fall below zero. Travellers from Bangalore routinely underestimate Spiti's night cold. Thermal layers, a windproof jacket, and a sleeping bag liner are not optional.

Consult a Doctor About Diamox Before Departure

Diamox is commonly used to prevent altitude sickness but requires a prescription and has contraindications for certain medical conditions. Consult a doctor at least two weeks before the Bangalore to Spiti Valley tour package departure—not after landing in Delhi. WanderOn's altitude physician will advise during the trip, but prior medical consultation is the traveler's responsibility.

No Outdoor Gear Shops Exist in the Valley

Kaza has no outdoor equipment stores, no trekking gear shops, and no pharmacy stocking expedition-grade products. If a traveller arrives without adequate warm layers, trekking shoes, or a rain jacket, there is no option to buy them locally. WanderOn's pre-trip briefing sent to all confirmed travellers covers the complete Spiti-specific packing list

Food Options Are Simple, Local, and Repetitive

Dhabas in Kaza and at road halt points serve basic Himachali and Tibetan food — rice, dal, thukpa, momos, and bread. Variety is limited and does not change significantly across the valley. Travellers from Bangalore expecting diverse cuisine should adjust before the trip, not during it.
